Refunds and Payment Disputes

General Information

Debtist receives payments as part of the processing of outstanding claims. A payment settles an outstanding claim in whole or in part.

Refunds

A refund may be considered in the following cases in particular:

  • The payment was made multiple times by mistake.

  • An excessive amount was paid.

  • The payment could not be assigned to a case.

  • The payment was demonstrably made in error.

Each request is reviewed individually.

No Automatic Refund

The settlement of a claim does not automatically entitle you to a refund.

If a payment has been properly applied to settle an outstanding claim or has already been transferred to the respective creditor, a refund can only be made following a review and, where applicable, with the creditor's approval.

PayPal Buyer Protection and Payment Disputes

If a payment is made via PayPal, PayPal's terms and conditions also apply.

The opening of a PayPal case or a chargeback procedure does not automatically result in a refund. In such cases, Debtist reviews the underlying information and may provide it to PayPal or the relevant payment service provider.

Overpayments

If more than the amount owed has been paid by mistake, the excess amount may be refunded. Proof of payment may be required.
